European Parliament calls for EU sanctions on Cuba and support for transition

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on 18 June 2026 condemning systematic repression in Cuba and calling for EU targeted sanctions against Cuban officials, including President Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the suspension of the EU-Cuba cooperation agreement if democratic transition is not initiated. The resolution also demands the immediate release of all political prisoners and increased humanitarian aid.

Eurostat Q2 2026 Flash Estimates: Euro Area GDP +0.4%, Employment +0.1%

Eurostat's flash estimates show euro area GDP grew by 0.4% in Q2 2026, up from stagnation in Q1, and employment rose by 0.1%. EU GDP grew by 0.5%. The data indicate moderate economic expansion and resilient labour markets, relevant for assessing the macroeconomic environment for compliance and risk management.
