ESMA Consults on Reporting Framework for Third-Country CCP Clearing Activity
ESMA has launched a consultation on new annual reporting requirements for clearing activity at recognised third-country central counterparties (CCPs) under EMIR. The proposed technical standards aim to improve supervisory visibility of EU firms' exposures while minimising burden by reusing existing data. Stakeholders are invited to respond by 12 October 2026.

ESMA Confirms 3 September 2026 Go-Live for Weekly Commodity Derivatives Position Reporting

ESAs Propose to Simplify EMIR Bilateral Margin Rules for Sub-€8bn Counterparties
The European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA) have published a final report proposing amendments to the bilateral margin requirements under EMIR. The draft RTS would exempt counterparties below the €8 billion initial margin threshold from exchanging initial margin on both new and existing uncleared OTC derivative contracts. The proposal aims to reduce burden and align the EU framework more closely with other jurisdictions.
