UAE Progress in Strengthening AML/CFT Measures: FATF Follow-Up Report 2023

The FATF has published a follow-up report on the United Arab Emirates' progress in addressing deficiencies identified in its 2020 mutual evaluation. The UAE has improved its compliance with three key Recommendations: Recommendation 1 (risk assessment) is now Largely Compliant, while Recommendations 19 (higher-risk countries) and 29 (financial intelligence units) are now Compliant. The UAE now has 15 Compliant, 24 Largely Compliant, and only one Partially Compliant rating, with no Non-Compliant ratings. The country remains under Enhanced Follow-Up and will report back to MENAFATF.

FATF Report Urges Public-Private Partnerships to Combat Illicit Finance

The FATF has published a new report highlighting the urgent need for public-private partnerships (PPPs) to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing. The report identifies at least 84 PPPs globally and calls for stronger cooperation with financial institutions, virtual asset service providers, and non-traditional stakeholders.
