Reuters - ECB’s Wunsch keeps July hike in play even as Iran deal eases energy prices
The European Central Bank may raise interest rates one more time as soon as next month if it sees more evidence of euro zone inflation spreading beyond energy, ECB policymaker Pierre Wunsch told Reuters, even as the U.S.-Iran deal dents oil prices.

Filiz Korkmazer appointed to NBB Board, to head insurance prudential supervision
The National Bank of Belgium (NBB) announced that Filiz Korkmazer has joined its Board of Directors, effective 1 September 2026. She will lead the Prudential Supervision of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies Department and, from 1 December 2026, also oversee support units within the Cash and Facility Management Department. She will additionally sponsor the NBB's IMMO project to renovate its historic headquarters.

NBB study: Belgian manufacturing energy use falls, but structural shifts dominate efficiency gains
According to a new National Bank of Belgium Economic Review article, Belgian manufacturing consumed around one-sixth less energy than at the turn of the century despite slightly higher industrial output. The decline is mainly explained by structural change towards less energy-intensive sectors such as pharmaceuticals and away from chemicals and iron/steel, not by broad-based efficiency gains. The analysis warns that not all energy reductions reflect efficiency improvements or decarbonisation and that the recent acceleration is linked to weaker activity in energy-intensive industries.
