AMLA Chair highlights financial integrity as a driver of innovation

On 4 September 2026, AMLA Chair Bruna Szegő addressed the relationship between financial integrity and innovation at the Central Bank of Montenegro’s 25th Anniversary Conference. She stressed that strong AML/CFT safeguards and trust can support, rather than hinder, financial innovation. The speech highlighted the role of technology in identifying financial-crime risks, the importance of harmonised rules and the need for agile AML/CFT frameworks capable of responding to emerging innovations. Crypto-assets were cited as an example of innovation being incorporated into the EU framework through MiCAR and the new AML/CFT package. The speech provides strategic insight into AMLA’s approach but does not introduce new compliance obligations.
