ESAs Propose Simplified Bilateral Margin Rules for Sub-€8bn Counterparties
The European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA) published a final report on draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) amending Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/2251 on bilateral margin requirements. The proposal removes initial margin exchange obligations for both new and existing uncleared OTC derivative contracts for counterparties below the €8 billion threshold. The RTS have been submitted to the European Commission for endorsement.

EIOPA July 2026 Risk Dashboard: Stable Sector Risks, Cyber Risk Elevated
EIOPA published its July 2026 Insurance Risk Dashboard, showing a broadly stable medium-level risk environment for the European insurance sector. Macroeconomic risks have a worsening outlook due to geopolitical tensions, while digitalisation and cyber risks have increased to a high level. Solvency and capital positions remain broadly unchanged.
