ESMA consults on revised guidelines for T+1 settlement allocations and confirmations

ESMA has launched a consultation on updated guidelines for standardised procedures and messaging protocols to support the transition to a T+1 settlement cycle. The revisions mandate electronic, machine-readable communication channels and remove references to non-electronic methods, except for temporary technical disruptions. The guidelines are expected to apply from 7 December 2026, with the T+1 transition taking effect on 11 October 2027.
