Euro Area Government Deficit at 3.1% of GDP in Q1 2026
Eurostat reports that the seasonally adjusted general government deficit stood at 3.1% of GDP in both the euro area and the EU in Q1 2026, a slight decrease from Q4 2025. Total revenue and expenditure ratios also declined marginally.

Eurostat: Services Production Up 0.8% in Euro Area and EU in May 2026
In May 2026, seasonally adjusted services production rose by 0.8% in both the euro area and the EU compared with April 2026, according to Eurostat first estimates. On an annual basis, services production increased by 2.4% in both areas. Real estate activities and professional, scientific and technical activities drove the monthly growth.
