ESMA Publishes Shortlist of Candidates for Chair Position
ESMA has published the shortlist of two candidates for the position of Chair, sent to the Council and Parliament for appointment. The candidates are Karen Dortea Abelskov and Carlo Comporti, selected based on merit and expertise. The new Chair is expected to start on 1 November 2026.

Joint Board of Appeal dismisses appeal against EBA over bank account closure complaint
The Joint Board of Appeal of the European Supervisory Authorities has dismissed an appeal brought by an individual against the European Banking Authority (EBA). The appeal challenged the EBA's decision not to investigate a complaint regarding a bank account closure and the handling of the matter by the Finnish National Competent Authority (FIN-FSA). The Board ruled the appeal inadmissible, confirming that the EBA has discretion over whether to initiate investigations and that such decisions are not subject to Board of Appeal review.
