Euro Area GDP Grows 0.4% in Q2 2026, EU 0.5% – Eurostat Flash Estimate

Eurostat's preliminary flash estimate shows euro area GDP grew by 0.4% in Q2 2026 and EU GDP by 0.5% quarter-on-quarter, following stagnation in Q1. Eurostat: Euro Area Construction Output Falls 1.3% in June 2026

Eurostat's first estimate shows seasonally adjusted production in construction fell by 1.3% in the euro area and 1.0% in the EU in June 2026, compared with May 2026. On an annual basis, euro area construction output declined by 0.7%, while EU output rose by 0.2%. Among Member States, Romania (+4.9%) and Sweden (+2.0%) recorded the strongest monthly gains, while Slovakia (-4.6%) and Hungary (-3.9%) saw the largest declines.

Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain countries concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine

The EU’s latest restrictive measures against Russia are gaining broader international alignment, with eight additional countries joining the measures adopted in July 2026. The package strengthens controls on Russia’s shadow fleet, financial sector, crypto-assets, oil-related activities and military-industrial supply chains. For compliance teams, the key priority is to reassess sanctions screening, third-country exposure and circumvention risks.

Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2026/1837 of 24 July 2026 amending Decision (CFSP) 2023/1532 concerning restrictive measures in view of Iran’s military support to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and to armed groups and entities in the Middle East and the Red Sea region as well as Iran’s actions undermining freedom of navigation in the Middle East.
