MiCA review: French authorities publish joint proposals
The French Treasury (DGT), the AMF, the Banque de France and the ACPR have published their joint response to the European Commission's consultation on the review of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The authorities call for a simplified MiCA framework with clearer boundaries vis-à-vis financial instruments and payment services rules, targeted support for euro-denominated stablecoins and tokenised deposits, and a strengthened ESMA role over significant CASPs and crypto conglomerates. They also set out positions on multi-issuance of stablecoins, non-compliant third-country tokens, DeFi, staking and crypto lending.
